This policy covers the I've Got a Guy app and website, operated from Sydney, Australia, and describes how we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
When you back someone, we store their first name, mobile number, optional email, and the trade you backed them for. Nothing else. We do not upload your contact list — only the single contact you choose, and only the fields above.
If someone has put you on here and you'd rather not be, go to ivegotaguy.com.au/my-listing and email us — you can correct your details, pause your listing, or be removed permanently. You don't need the app, and you don't need to email from any particular address. We action every request within one business day. Removal is permanent — your number is blocked so nobody can add you again.
Other users see one name, one trade, and a contact number when that person is the top-backed guy for their area. Nobody sees who backed whom. Nobody sees vote counts — including us in the app interface, and including the person who has been backed.
Data is stored in Australia (Sydney region) with our hosting provider. Access is restricted and audited. SMS verification is handled by a third-party provider who receives only the mobile number and the code.
Backings decay in weight over time and are deleted if you remove them or delete your account. Blocked numbers are kept indefinitely for the sole purpose of ensuring a removed person is never re-listed.
You can access, correct, or delete your information at any time. Delete your account in the app under Settings, or email us. If you're a listed guy, use the listing portal. We'll respond within 30 days.
Email privacy@ivegotaguy.com.au. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
If we change this policy materially, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
